Just a thought, but for those Boston Bruins fans disappointed with the NHL Lockout, what about finding a local hockey team (high school, college, Pee-wee) that can be supported.
If there are already people doing this, my apologizes, but why not use the frustration of seeing (yet another) sport season being delayed to help a youngster starting out in the game, or seeing and cheering the next Bobby Orr.
I read an article online about a football fan fed up with the NFL strike that decided to volunteer and become a high school football official.  Perhaps someone could don the skates and help teach the game to someone else ...

What a great sports weekend for fans in the Boston area ...
most local high school teams (football, cross country, etc,) have begun their
seasons; most, if not all, colleges have already played at least two football games (and I believe Ivy League begins play this week), our Beacons will host Rhode Island College Saturday at 1 p.m. in soccer action and the men's and women's cross country teams will compete the following day at 11 a.m.  in Brookline,
And I didn't even mention the pro teams (BoSox, Pats and Revolution) competing this weekend.
Doesn't get much better than that ...

For any fan of football, baseball, and hockey, this is te best time of year.  The baseball regular season, after almost a half year, is wrapping up with playoff berths on the line; and for those fans in markets like Boston, where the baseball season has been unofficially over for some months now, can focus on the their football and hockey teams, as they being their regular season.
We mourn the potential loss of our baseball team until late-February or early-March  and celebrate the life of the new season with our other teams.
It doesn't get much better than that ...
